Skin of Steel Founder receives 2012 Glenview Civic Award

IMAGES-2013-05-P1040135+(3)Skin of Steel Executive Director, Susan Steel was honored with a Special Committee Award at the 2012 Glenview Civic Awards ceremony at North Shore country Club in recognition and appreciation of outstanding contributions in serving the Village of Glenview. The nine Civic Groups selected her as one of two recipients.

Susan’s plaque proudly displays sincere gratitude from the Service Organizations and Citizens of Glenview, Illinois for Susan for: – Working tirelessly and selflessly to provoke revolutionary change in how patients and institutions respond to the causes of melanoma and – Inspiring volunteers to promote local research and comprehensive treatment for melanoma – including raising funds for a Melanoma Tissue bank to be located in Chicago and – Facilitating community education campaigns about the dangers of sun exposure and the benefits of proper sun protection and – Involvement with Glenview school districts and Park District, numerous local not-for profit organizations, and the community in general to promote awareness of melanoma and – For truly making a difference in the understanding of melanoma prevention, research and and treatment, not only in our community but among people across the nation through the Skin of Steel foundation.
