A Rockin’ Good Time
Skin of Steel and its supporters rocked the rafters at Fields Volvo in Northfield on March 8th at our first-ever Rock Out Melanoma Battle of the Bands event. Attended by over 500 people and supported by so many more, the event netted over $100,000 to support the development of a national Melanoma Tissue Bank! Our partners from the Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center came out in force to support this critical effort which includes a branch of the bank located that their facility. This will be critical to advancing research and treatment options for melanoma patients in the Midwest.
Attendees were treated to great food from The Happ Inn and Taco Nano while enjoying the music of three local bands, Loose Change, Who’s Your Daddy and PopRocks. A huge silent auction provided plenty of opportunity for the crowd to support the cause and get a little something for themselves in the bargain.
Many thanks to all of our sponsors, auction item donors, attendees and the many generous donations of those who were not able to attend but were truly with us in spirit.
